Ideally suited for in-house and large-scale manufacturing integration, Oxyphen’s track-etched rollstock membrane – which can be laminated, unlaminated, or fiber-based – is supplied from high-quality polyester (PET) or polycarbonate (PC) raw materials. Depending on the application’s requirements, the membranes can be treated with hydrophilic, hydrophobic, or oleophobic properties and converted from 310mm width bobbin down to 8mm slit rolls.
Oxyphen offers two types of track-etched membranes – unlaminated Unique-Mem and laminated RoTrac membranes. Both are available in rollstock format. Unlaminated Unique-Mem® track-etched membranes are characterized by cylindrical shaped pores penetrating the membrane in different angles. They consist of a single unsupported membrane layer which can be transparent or translucent depending on pore density. Laminated RoTrac® membranes are Unique-Mem® membrane technologies, available as either hydrophobic or hydrophilic, that are supported with non-woven material (PP or PET) to create a more robust membrane.
The porous structure of Oxyphen track-etched membranes can be adjusted in pore size and pore density depending on the desired filtration efficiency, flow rate or water entry pressure needed for a particular application. The membranes can be sealed via heat or ultrasonic welding onto most plastic housings, preferably in a punch-and-seal procedure.
Highlighted Case Study
Electronic Textiles
Oxmotex AG is a research and development company dedicated to electroosmotic vapor and fluid transport, who developed revolutionary proprietary technology for electronically controlled moisture transport in membranes and textiles. As they looked to create a new innovative technology that would provide active electronically driven moisture transport, they came to Oxyphen for a track-etched membrane solution that would be responsive to changing climates, transport moisture beyond normal sweat rates, and be comfortable for the wearer.
