Complete Control of Pore Size & Density

Oxyphen specializes in the unique manufacturing of track-etched membranes. We feature an unparalleled defined pore structure that offers the smallest tolerances in pore sizes and pore densities on the market.

The two key steps to achieve full, independent control of both pore size and pore density are: 

  • Ion bombardment of polymer films with heavy ions to create distinct tracks
  • Subsequent chemical etching of polymer films

Exclusive Beaming Equipment & Proprietary Monitoring Systems

Oxyphen utilizes a long-term beaming source, exclusive beaming equipment, as well as a proprietary monitoring system solely operated by Oxyphen employees during our beaming process. The polymer film is unwound at a defined, steady speed and bombarded with accelerated noble gas ions. Each ion then creates a latent track, which determines the pore density. This pore density can be 100% controlled due to the velocity of the film and the intensity of the bombardment. During the chemical etching process, cylindrical pores are etched along the tracks at a well-controlled concentration and temperature. This allows for 100% traceability of the membrane characteristics.

Using a unique, two-step process, Oxyphen divides multiple pores on one side to a single pore on the other side.

Proprietary Airflow Monitoring Capabilities

Using a unique, two-step process, Oxyphen is able to divide multiple pores on one side to a single pore on the other side. This specifically targets applications where pore size and density affect air or media flow and water entry pressure (in case of hydrophobic/oleophobic treatment).

All Oxyphen membranes are 100% PFOA free and can be used freely in accordance with the latest REACH legislation from July 4, 2020.

Optional lamination of the membrane is also available for applications demanding excellent membrane robustness. In developing ROTRAC® laminated track-etched membranes, the lamination is performed via a thermal process to provide an adhesive-free reinforcement with different types of non-wovens made of PET and PP.

Unique-Mem® track-etched membranes, available as hydrophilic or hydrophobic, are characterized by cylindrical shaped pores penetrating the membrane in different angles. They have a smooth flat surface and well-defined flow rates​.

Pre-punched hydrophobic or hydrophilic membrane discs in various dimensions. Easily mounted and produced using either hydrophobic or hydrophilic membranes for any filtration or venting application.

Pressure compensation venting plugs with hydrophobic or oleophobic treated membranes. Easily deployed to prevent the ingress of oily liquids, water, dust, dirt, salts, or other contaminants. Can also be fully customizable.
